Tamás Kodácsy born in Kecskemét in 1975, he is a Reformed pastor and mathematician-programmer. He is Associate Professor at the Institute of Systematic Theology and Church History of Sárospatak Reformed Theological University. He serves as president of the Eco-Congregation Movement of the Reformed Church in Hungary, is a board member of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN), a founding member of the European Christian Ecotheology Research Network, a board member of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE), and a founding member of the Jesenius Centre for Science and Faith. He is the senior pastor of the Reformed Congregation of Dunakeszi.
Between 2000 and 2004, he worked as an assistant lecturer in the Department of Systematic Theology at Debrecen Reformed Theological University, and from 2004 to 2014 he served as university chaplain at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. Between 2018 and 2023, he led the Creation Care Workshop at Károli Gáspár University.
His doctoral dissertation examined the theological implications of cosmological anthropic principles (2007), while his habilitation thesis explored the relationship between the Word and preaching, with particular attention to the homiletical concept of aptum (2014). As an IT specialist, he works primarily on higher-education information systems as a lead software developer.
His main areas of theological research include religion and natural science, ecotheology, early dogmatic history, and homiletics. He has held scholarships in Oxford and Zurich, and in the 2018/2019 academic year he was a visiting researcher at New College, University of Edinburgh.
He is married and the father of three children. His wife, Dr. Eszter Kodácsy-Simon, is Head of the Department of Religious Education at the Lutheran Theological University.
