Support Théma21

Théma21 was created to provide an independent Protestant theological forum: a space where questions can be asked, ideas debated, new perspectives introduced, and theological reflection can remain closely connected to the world in which we live.

The journal is built largely through voluntary work and commitment. But if we want it to remain freely accessible, professionally rigorous, and genuinely independent in the long term, we also need a sustainable financial foundation.

What do we use your support for?

Théma21 is now more than simply a website. As a journal, we have an ISSN, we assign DOIs to our academic publications, and we aim to maintain a high editorial and technical standard in both Hungarian and English.

Your support helps us cover, among other things:

  • the technical infrastructure and hosting of the journal,
  • the costs of DOI registration,
  • translation and language editing,
  • editorial and publication-related work,
  • conferences, discussions, and community events.

It is equally important to us that Théma21’s articles remain freely available to everyone, and that our events remain as accessible as possible. We do not want financial circumstances to determine who can access an important theological text or take part in a meaningful conversation.

Independence also has a cost

Théma21 seeks to operate independently of institutional and church-political interests. For us, this is not merely an editorial principle. It is a condition of being able to ask genuine questions, give space to differing viewpoints, and address issues that may be difficult to discuss elsewhere.

We can preserve this independence in the long term only if there is a community of readers and supporters behind us who believe this work matters.

If you also believe that such a space is worth sustaining, we invite you to support Théma21.

We gratefully accept both one-time and recurring donations.

Every contribution, regardless of its size, helps Théma21 remain an independent, open, and professionally rigorous theological forum.

Thank you for reading, thinking, and helping us continue to build Théma21.
